The Load Time is measured as the time from the start of the initial navigation until the beginning of the window load event (onload).

In the above definition what does initial navigation and window load event mean?

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to check how many users access a specific page under a specific connection type, such as 2G / 3G. But first, I would like to understand what exactly Internet connection type means.

According to WebPageTest, the downlink for 4G is 9Mbps but according to https://wicg.github.io/netinfo, 4G is defined as everything above 700Kbps. Is it a reason for having this difference or maybe other factors are taken into account and that's why the range is different.

Hello,
I have configured and installed a private instance of webpagetest. Everything is working fine, but I noticed, that when I use API for testing through my private instance, metric "firstContentfulPaint" is missing, which is available when I use API of public domain webpagetest.org.
Do you know if that is configured somewhere, or why is that missing?

It would be great to have metrics such as those described here.

For example, "Largest (Hero) image render" is an important KPI for e-commerce (and other) sites where it's all about visuals. It would be nice to have it in WebPagetest instead of adding it on pages as a performance marker.

I using this site check page performance on desktop and mobile devices, works good for desktop but am not getting doc complete value for iPhone devices, below are the test link, could you please provide why it is happening and how can i fix this.

WebPageTest doesn't show proper details for improving the speed.

Hi,

I open this post in part to see if someone else happens or is just me. The thing is that inrento make requests with the location 'Spain', but from the API returns this error:

{statusCode: 400,
   statusText:
    'Invalid Location, please try submitting your test request again.' }

When yesterday I worked perfectly. The same thing happens with Paris and a few others, however there are other locations that work (but do not offer me the reliability of the data I'm looking for).

Can someone solve / clarify why this happens to me?

I am running a test on webpage test (on the private instance) and creating its video and after that down downloading the same video, but I see there is a variance in the result page time and time showing in the video.

Please refer the screenshot attached.

If you can see the summary page took almost 2.5 seconds but in the video, it is showing 1.4 seconds. Not able to correlate it.

Hi,

I would be grateful if anybody could help

I have statsd configured and pushing metrics to datadog successfully. However, when running lighthouse reports, some metrics are always being reported as zero, even when captured correctly in the online reports. Some, however, are populated.

it seems like lighthouse.Performance.* are coming through with values, but everything else is not, e.g. lighthouse.SEO, lighthouse.BestPractices etc.

Is there any way to configure a lower log level for dockerised server and agent? Or simply suppress stdout and stderr logging altogether without redirecting to a file?

I found a plugin apachebooster, It seems like more genuine product. Since I haven't used it, I don't know the working capability of it. But still eager to know how it works. Anyone out there who tried this?

Was trying to find information on setting up multi-step scripts, and came upon the Documentation page; however the docuemntation page states the below for validating script attempts:

"Pagetest has a scripting capability that lets you automate a multi-step test (for example, logging into a site or sending an e-mail message). The scripts are contained in files where a single file constitutes a browser session (the browser will be closed after the script is complete). The files are plain text files and can be edited by any text editor.

You can test a script in the desktop version by selecting "Run Script" from the File menu."

As far as I have been (un)able to find Pagetest is not available / updated any longer, is this a correct finding? If so what scripting tool(s) would be best for validating that a script will work prior to throwing it at webpagetest.org?

I've read in old threads that WPT cannot clear the Safari iOS cache without the iPhones being jailbroken?
If true (and I've seen lots of results in my private instance that seems to back this up) is there anything else we can do about it? Our iPhones are running 12.x & cannot be jailbroken AFAIK.
Any workarounds or ???

I'm stuck on the following issue :
I'm trying to WPT the following website https://www.oscaro.com (not mine)
You can see HERE the results.

I have noticed that the website have used a Cloudflare feature to protect against DDOS attacks.
And I would expect WPT to wait and measure perfs after the redirect operates.

Is there a way I could do this ?

I get these showing up under "Add Expires Headers" in GT Metrix.

There are 4 static components without a far-future expiration date.

Hi
I have a website. When I checked its performance I can see that the time to first byte is very high. It is rated at F and it is not consistent.
It changes all the time and ranges from 2.5 seconds to somewhere around 8 seconds.

I have W3 Total cache enabled.
The website is hosted in shared hosting.
Can you please help me out why this is happening?

Hi all,

Fair warning, I'm new to this site and need a little help interpreting the results I'm seeing on my website's test. I'm particularly concerned about what the red bar that nearly fills my Page Interactive row means, what the heck the wall of purple is halfway through the test, and how to fix both of those.
